Market background
Market status in China: China is a large country where the adoption rate of TV sets for urban households has reached 99.3% and every 100 urban households possess 140 TV sets. However, China is still in the initial stage in terms of digital television and information technology industry and lacks coordinated development in such sectors as broadcasting/television, telecommunication and IT, and has a long way to go to gear up with international market in terms of overall planning, technology, funds and human resources.
Market vision: China's broadcasting/television industry has initialized a digital revolution. Based on statistic figures, about 210 million analog TV sets in China will be substituted by digital TV (DTV) sets in a few years. By 2010, there will be 128 million PTV subscribers (households) and 166 million DTV households in China, which promises a market scale of RMB 700 billion for PTV market and creates dramatic market opportunities. Especially, there will be more than 3 million analog TV sets substituted by DTV sets in Shenzhen by 2007.
Status of specialized exhibitions: Currently, there is only a little number of mature, specialized exhibitions for digital movie/TV industry, and the existing exhibitions are high regionalized and far from enough to meet market demand all over the country. To promote business and communication in the country, the state government has intensified efforts to create new brands of specialized exhibitions. This exhibition will be held every May in Shenzhen, a city in South China, which has filled up the gap in the Chinese market.
